Native Apple Vision Pro edition

The native Apple Vision Pro edition requires visionOS 2 or later. Version 1.4 is available; check the linked App Store listing on the home page for availability in your country. It includes the same built-in puzzles, reference and custom puzzle editor, with local progress, optional private iCloud sync and Game Center achievements. The Apple sync, achievement and data-removal instructions below also apply to this edition.

A clue is not matching

Every clue must match its entire line. Select a cell to see the clues that cross it, or open All Clues. The searchable Regex Reference explains the supported patterns. Turn on Clue status symbols in Settings if you prefer symbols alongside color feedback.

Start with the expanded tutorial in version 1.4

Version 1.4 on Android and Apple Vision Pro includes 17 short tutorials, with one pattern introduced at a time. Open Tutorial and try Digits Count Too for numbers, Signs and Symbols for punctuation, and Make Some Space for dark space blocks. Your progress in the existing lessons is preserved. Apple store versions can differ; check the version available for your device.

Numbers, symbols, and picture puzzles in version 1.4

Version 1.4 on Android and Apple Vision Pro includes puzzles with numbers, symbols and space blocks. Apple store versions can differ. Each puzzle offers the characters it uses, including numbers or punctuation where needed. When a puzzle offers the Space key, select a cell and choose Space to enter a dark filled block. It is a real answer character, not an empty cell. Use Delete to clear it. Some grids reveal a picture as these blocks fill in. Emojis are not included.

Existing progress and the original category achievement requirements are preserved. Android 1.4 includes 130 daily puzzles: the original 80-puzzle pool remains assigned to earlier dates, and the expanded rotation begins October 1, 2026. Selected community puzzles include an author credit and a link to the original puzzle in the puzzle menu.

Keyboard feedback and small windows

On a device with haptic support, feedback is enabled by default for each on-screen key press, including replacing a cell and Delete. To turn it off, open Settings and switch off Haptic feedback. A device without haptic hardware will not vibrate.

The clue panel keeps a steady height as you move between cells, so the grid stays in place. Mac sidebar labels and progress counts also have clearer spacing. At large text sizes or in a small window, scroll the clue area or open All Clues to read a long pattern.

What is coming in version 1.5?

Version 1.5 is available on Mac and Android. Store versions can differ between platforms. Candidate notes, undo/redo and checkpoints help you try deductions. Tap a clue for an explanation, or use progressive hints before choosing to reveal a character. Library search, favorites and Continue playing help you find your next puzzle. The daily calendar offers Mini, Standard and Challenge choices; the bundled collection grows to 421 puzzles, including 160 daily puzzles, with 30 original daily puzzles scheduled from November 1, 2026.

Practice lets you choose a supported concept, board shape and difficulty. Creator collections organize credited bundled puzzles; they do not publish user uploads. The editor adds local drafts, duplicate/remix, custom alphabets and multiple clues per line. Result sharing includes solve time and assistance, so check the text before sending it. Newer builds with expanded sync carry favorites, editor drafts and supported app preferences, plus custom puzzle definitions on Android. Live notes, undo/checkpoints and detailed attempt sessions remain local. Solved status, best times and accumulated play time already sync as puzzle progress. These changes do not announce public availability.

Progress is not syncing

• Apple: use the same Apple Account on both devices and check that iCloud and the app's iCloud access are enabled. Reopen RegHex with a working network connection; updates are not always immediate.
• Android: use a device with Google Play services, open Settings → Sync now, and grant access to RegHex's app-data folder. Automatic sync runs on launch and after a solve when enabled.

Apple and Android do not sync with each other. Apple custom puzzles can sync through iCloud; newer Android builds with expanded sync also include custom definitions in Drive. Share codes remain available independently. Keep each device updated to use the expanded library and preference sync. If sync fails, keep your local progress and retry when the service is available.

Game Center achievements on Apple devices

Open Achievements or Settings in RegHex to see the signed-in Game Center player. Choose Sign In to Game Center if needed, or check Game Center in your device's system settings. You can keep playing without signing in.

RegHex reports its 12 achievements when earned and catches up with earlier local unlocks after sign-in. If an award has not appeared, reconnect to the internet and reopen RegHex. When a sync error is shown, choose Retry Achievement Sync. Choose View Game Center Achievements to open Apple's achievement dashboard.

Game Center records awards for the signed-in player; it does not restore puzzle entries, solve times or custom puzzles. Use iCloud for Apple progress sync. Resetting RegHex progress does not erase awards already reported to Game Center. Manage activity sharing and sign-in in system settings. Game Center is available only in the Apple app; Android retains local achievements.

A share code will not import

Copy the complete code beginning with reghex1:. RegHex rejects damaged codes and unsupported patterns. In version 1.4 the editor supports one clue per line and hex grids up to edge 3. Version 1.5 adds up to four clues per line, saved-puzzle editing and local autosaved drafts. Changing a saved puzzle’s board, solution, clues or alphabet creates a new version and keeps the original puzzle and its progress; renaming keeps the identity.

Remove your data

Use Settings to reset progress and My Puzzles to delete custom puzzles. Android offers a separate Delete Drive backup action. Disabling automatic sync alone does not remove an existing backup. Other Android devices with sync enabled can recreate Drive backups from their local progress; disable sync and reset progress on each device when removing it everywhere. Optional tips

In versions with tipping, open Settings and choose Tip the developer. Every puzzle and feature remains free. Apple tips require an internet connection and are handled by the App Store; if a tip is pending, wait for approval. A cancelled or unavailable tip never blocks play. For Apple purchase questions or refunds, use Apple purchase support. Android opens the developer's Ko-fi page in your browser; choose One time, review the amount, and use the provider's support for payment questions. RegHex does not verify an external payment or unlock anything after it.

Report a problem

Include your device model, operating system, RegHex version, the puzzle name or screen, steps to reproduce the issue, and what you expected. A screenshot can help; remove personal information first. Never send passwords or authorization tokens.
