Privacy policy

On your device

RegHex stores puzzle entries, completion history, play times, preferences, local achievement state, and custom puzzles on your device. Built-in gameplay works without a RegHex account or an internet connection.

In version 1.5, candidate notes, undo history, checkpoints, hint/reveal usage, attempt records, favorites, generated practice puzzles and unfinished editor drafts are also stored locally. These records support solving tools, resuming work and personal statistics; they are not developer analytics. Earlier builds keep solving-tool history, attempt records, favorites and unfinished drafts outside app sync. Newer builds with expanded sync include favorites, unfinished editor drafts and supported appearance, puzzle-checking, timer, clue-symbol and library-filter preferences. Active solving-tool history and detailed per-attempt session records remain local; solved status, best times and accumulated play time already travel with puzzle progress. Notification settings, haptics, device keyboard/text sizing, account authorization and temporary navigation remain local. Device-level backups may still include local app files under your operating system settings.

Optional cloud storage

• Apple: when iCloud is available and enabled for the app, puzzle progress and custom puzzle definitions sync using your private CloudKit database. The publisher cannot browse your private CloudKit records.
• Android: after you grant Google authorization, RegHex can save and merge puzzle progress in its hidden Google Drive app-data folder. It requests only the drive.appdata scope, not access to your ordinary Drive documents. Earlier Android builds back up progress without custom definitions. Newer builds with expanded sync also include saved custom puzzle definitions and the portable library/preferences described above, using separate app-data snapshots so older clients cannot strip the new fields. On Android, a random identifier for this installation distinguishes its private backup from other devices. It is not used for advertising or analytics.

Cloud transfers use encrypted connections. Apple and Google operate their respective services and process account and service information under their own policies: Apple Privacy Policy and Google Privacy Policy. Cloud sync stays within each ecosystem; RegHex does not link Apple and Google accounts.

RegHex's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google Play services handles optional Google account authorization. The authorization response gives RegHex a token for the requested Drive scope, not your name or email. During this optional authorization flow, Google Play services may send authorization-operation diagnostics and API-usage information to Google to support service reliability and improvement, as described in Google's explanation of Play services data collection. This service telemetry is handled by Google; RegHex does not operate publisher-run analytics or advertising tracking.

Optional Apple Game Center

On iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, RegHex uses Apple's Game Center when you are signed in. You can dismiss sign-in and keep playing; built-in puzzles and local achievements work without Game Center or a network connection.

RegHex reads your Game Center display name and player identifier in the app to show the signed-in player and associate award reporting with that player. It loads your completed RegHex awards and reports the identifiers of unlocked achievements to Apple at 100% completion. There are 12 achievements, and awards earned locally before sign-in can be reported after you sign in. These achievement requests do not include puzzle entries, custom puzzle definitions or individual solve times. The publisher does not receive or store your Game Center profile or awards on a publisher-operated server.

Apple operates Game Center and processes account, game-activity and service information under its Game Center privacy notice. Achievement activity may be visible to others according to your Game Center sharing settings. Apple's service processing is separate from RegHex's absence of publisher-run analytics. Game Center awards are separate from iCloud progress storage and do not restore puzzle entries, times or custom puzzles.

Optional tips

Every puzzle and feature remains free. Versions that offer tips do not grant content, benefits or a subscription in exchange for payment.

On Apple devices, optional one-time consumable tips are processed by the App Store. RegHex uses StoreKit to load localized prices, verify a transaction and finish it. RegHex does not receive your card details or send purchase records to a publisher-operated server. Apple processes purchases under its own privacy policy.

On Android, the optional support button opens the developer's Ko-fi page in your browser. Choose One time and review the amount before paying. The app sends no puzzle data, identifiers or account details with this fixed link and does not receive a payment callback. Ko-fi and its payment processor handle checkout outside RegHex. The publisher may receive the supporter's name, email, message, amount and payment record provided by those services, for support and applicable accounting obligations. Their policies apply: Ko-fi Privacy Policy and Stripe Privacy Policy.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you reset/delete it or remove the app's data. Removing an app does not necessarily delete its cloud backup. In version 1.5, Reset All Progress also clears local solving sessions and attempt history. Delete unfinished drafts separately in My Puzzles; favorites can be removed from the library. Removing the app's data clears the remaining local records.

• Apple: use Settings → Reset All Progress to remove progress, and My Puzzles to delete custom puzzles. These changes sync when CloudKit is available. Manage the app's iCloud access in device settings.
• Android: disable Automatic sync to stop automatic transfers. Delete Drive backup removes the cloud snapshots currently available to the app and turns automatic sync off on this device. Reset all progress removes local progress and, when sync is enabled, the Drive backup. Delete custom puzzles separately in My Puzzles. You can also remove hidden app data in Google Drive's Manage apps settings and revoke RegHex access from your Google Account.

Devices that remain offline may retain local copies until they reconnect. On Android, other devices can upload those copies again, including automatically while their sync remains enabled. To remove Android progress everywhere, disable sync and reset local progress on every device, then delete the Drive backup; re-enable sync only after removing the copies you intend to delete. Apple and Google's own retention practices apply to their infrastructure.

Game Center: resetting local progress, removing RegHex or signing out does not erase achievements already reported to Apple. A report already sent may finish after a reset. Sign out of Game Center in system settings to stop future reporting from that device; manage activity sharing there and consult Apple's Game Center privacy notice for Apple's data practices. The publisher cannot administer or delete your Game Center account.

Sharing puzzles

Sharing exports a text code through your operating system or apps you select. Version 1.5 also offers result text and a RegHex challenge link: result text can contain the puzzle name, board shape, solve time and assistance used; custom-puzzle challenge links carry the puzzle definition. RegHex does not operate a public sharing server or receive the code, result or destination. A recipient can retain and forward anything you share. Curated creator collections are bundled content, not a public upload or messaging service.

Support and this website

If you email support, the publisher receives your email address, message and attachments. Use only the information needed to explain the issue. Support messages are used to answer requests and retained only as needed for support and applicable recordkeeping; you can request deletion.

This static website is hosted by Cloudflare. It has no advertising trackers, analytics scripts, contact or mailing-list forms, or nonessential cookies added by the publisher. Cloudflare may process ordinary delivery and security information, including IP addresses, browser information, requested URLs, and request times. Provider processing and retention follow the applicable service configuration and Cloudflare Privacy Policy. These website requests are separate from the app data practices described above.

Questions and requests

Contact support@reghex.app about privacy, access, correction, or deletion of information the publisher holds. For private cloud records, use the in-app/provider controls described above because the publisher cannot delete records by looking up your account. Updates to this policy will appear on this page with a revised date.
