Every clue is a regular expression. Fill rectangular grids or rotate hexagonal boards to see how the patterns meet.

Learn as you play

Start with the tutorial and work through four difficulty levels. Live clue feedback, hints, and a searchable regex reference help you find your next move.

Make it a daily puzzle

Play the daily challenge and revisit earlier puzzles. Track streaks, best times and achievements on your device. Store versions and available daily dates can differ.

Create something puzzling

Build a puzzle, check that it has one solution, and share it as a compact text code. Your next favorite grid can be your own.

Numbers, symbols and pictures

Short tutorials introduce digits, symbols and spaces. Entered spaces form dark blocks, revealing pictures in some grids. Store versions can differ between platforms.

Where can I install RegHex?

RegHex is available for Mac, Android phones and tablets, and Apple Vision Pro. The iPhone and iPad editions are awaiting App Store release. Availability can vary by country; check the linked store for your device.

What does the native Apple Vision Pro edition require?

RegHex is available for Apple Vision Pro and requires visionOS 2 or later. It includes built-in puzzles and a custom puzzle editor. Store versions can differ between platforms; check the linked listing for the current release.

Do I need to know regular expressions?

You can begin with the guided tutorial. Hints, live clue feedback, and the built-in reference help you learn the patterns as you play.

Is RegHex free?

Yes. Every puzzle and feature is free, with no subscription. Versions offering optional one-time tips use the App Store on Apple devices or the developer’s Ko-fi page on Android. Tips unlock nothing.

Can I play offline?

Yes. The built-in puzzles, reference, and editor work without an internet connection or a RegHex account.

Is every daily puzzle new?

The daily challenge rotates through a bundled puzzle pool, and you can revisit the previous 30 days. Android 1.4 adds 50 daily puzzles scheduled from October 1, 2026; earlier dates keep their puzzles. Apple updates can arrive separately.

Can I share my own puzzles?

Yes. The editor checks for a unique solution and produces a text code you can send to someone else. RegHex can import that code on Apple and Android devices.

What is new in Android 1.4?

Turn rectangular boards so long column clues read across. Edge clues sit in numbered lanes and highlight the selected row and column; tap a lane to jump to its line. Fifty new daily puzzles join the rotation, and symbol clues are clearer. Existing progress and earlier daily dates are preserved. Apple versions can differ.

What is new in version 1.5?

Version 1.5 is available on Mac and Android. Apple Vision Pro, iPhone and iPad updates can arrive separately. Store versions can differ. It adds candidate notes, undo and checkpoints, clue explanations and progressive hints, search and favorites, a daily calendar with three challenge sizes, configurable practice, curated creator collections, result sharing and an expanded puzzle editor. Its 421-puzzle collection includes 30 original daily puzzles scheduled from November 1, 2026. Existing daily dates and progress are preserved.
